Frequently Asked Questions

To receive a uniform quote from your proposed builders it is best if you can supply the builder with all the right documentation from the beginning, the main documentation needed includes.

  • Architectural drawings
  • Engineering drawings
  • Basix Requirements
  • Fixtures and finishes to be used
  • DA or CDC documentation

Not all these documents are required but it will help you as the homeowner to receive apple for apple quotes from the builders you are looking to engage.

There are many aspects builders need to consider when trying to work out the cost of a renovation. The answer to these questions will begin to determine your final cost.

  • When do you plan to start?
  • What type of construction is it?
  • What is the access like to undertake the renovation?
  • Is your land flat or steeply sloped?
  • What type of fixtures and finishes do you plan to use?
  • Are you looking to do some of the works yourself to try and save money?

To answer this question here can be difficult, as every renovation is different in size and requirements of design and work to be undertaken.
As a guide we advise our clients for a full bathroom renovation to allow 3 to 4 weeks, and a full home renovation could be between 4 to 9 months

Should you undertake the works yourself as an owner builder these times will extend out significantly, from our experience with owner builders you could be looking between 1 or 2 years depending on how organised you can be and how much you want to do yourself.

This isn’t unusual. As a homeowner looking to engage a builder for your renovation now is the time to really read and understand the quotes you have received.

In many cases the cheapest quote is not always the best quote to proceed with. There could be items that have not been included, or the builder is excluding some of the works from their quote. This is only going to cost you more money down the track in variations you may not have budgeted for.

The best advice we can offer you here is to start asking questions to ensure you have received a quote covering everything you want done.

Generally, no.
This will however depend on the type and size of renovation you are undertaking. In most cases we are able to only take over a section of your home whilst you and your family still occupy and live in the rest of the house

We understand that this may not always be possible due to work commitments. On most occasions we make arrangements with our clients for access should they not be there and communicate with them when we leave.

Generally, no.
We prefer to keep our construction works happening during the week and let our clients, employees and trades have the weekend to themselves and their families without all the noise going on in the background.
On some occasions we may need to work on a weekend, but we will consult with our client before booking anything in.

If there is one thing builders and tradespeople are good at it is making a mess, however we understand you are letting us in to your home and in doing so, we take precautions in our processes to protect your home and family from our works.

We use drop sheets and have a specially designed plastic wall system we use between the work area and the rest of your house to separate us from you and to minimise any dust. We keep our work areas clean and remove all our construction waste from site.

AusPom Projects is located in Seven Hills.

Generally, our work is within our local and surrounding areas. We do however extend out past these locations and have undertaken works in the past in the Sutherland Shire, Hawkesbury, Eastern and Northern Suburbs.

The best place to start for any homeowner looking to renovate is to work out exactly what you want to achieve and the budget you have to work with for the renovation.

Once you know this, we can start helping you with a phone call to discuss your ideas to see if you are on track with what you want to achieve. We can also connect you with Architects or Draftsmen we work with to get your actual plans drawn up, prepared and through the CDC or DA process.

Yes.
Many families over the years have asked this and we are always happy to try and accommodate where we can. Arranging to do part of the works yourself may seem like a great idea but may not always work out for the best.
We have found on occasion that things don’t always go to plan. Sometimes it may be better to have your builder arrange the specialist trades he has already built a relationship with.
